Pulsefield 1–3 (Terry Riley)
Realizations I created from several musical drawings within Terry Riley's open-ended folio The Holy Liftoff, written for flexible instrumentation and for musicians with various levels of experience. The score of the realization mixes passages that are fully written out, partially notated, and open to free improvisation, and includes images from the drawings themselves.
Pulsefield 1 was premiered in September 2024 at the Juilliard Fall Festival in a version for 17 musicians, led by Claire Chase, Nadia Sirota, and Pablo Rieppi.
The complete Pulsefield 1–3 premiered at the finale concert of the 2025 Ojai Music Festival with an ensemble of musicians from throughout the festival, led by Steven Schick.
