Pulsefield (Terry Riley)
A realization I co-created from Terry Riley's The Holy Liftoff musical folio, written for flexible instrumentation and for musicians with various levels of experience. The score of the realization mixes passages that are fully written out, partially notated, and open to free improvisation, and includes images from the drawings themselves.
The first version was performed in September 2024 at the Juilliard Fall Festival in a version for 17 musicians, led by Claire Chase, Nadia Sirota, and Pablo Rieppi.
A revised version, including new drawings Pulsefield 2 and Pulsefield 3, premieres at the finale concert of the 2025 Ojai Music Festival with an ensemble of musicians from throughout the festival, led by Steven Schick.
