Unity Song (2025)

for keyboard or fixed media
10’–180’

For keyboard using Rhodes- or bell-like sounds. Can be performed live or as a fixed media installation, in its entirety or excerpted.

The music is formed entirely out of a small musical unit that can interconnect with itself in different ways. This way of working became a metaphor for community and mending, and a countercurrent to the splintering world outside.

The music alternates between periods of rest and more organized sections that act as songs, with longer cycles that gradually shift the mood as the hours pass. Moving at a slow pace and with long silences, the music is completed by the physical environment in which it sounds, acting as a focusing lens to deepen the listener’s sense of presence within the space.

Originally composed as a dialogue with the art installation Together II: Waterfall by Tamiko Kawata, and presented at Alison Bradley Projects (NYC) January 6–31, 2026.
